“The Wackness” starring Josh Peck, Ben Kingsley, Method Man, Famke Janssen and Mary-Kate Olsen premiered at the Sundance Film Festival yesterday. Here are some of the reviews it’s received so far! It’s been a remarkably postive for director Johnathan Levine’s second film!

Slash Film was presently surprised by the film:

Every year at Sundance I see a film during the first weekend that I absolutely fall in love with. Because it’s only the opening weekend, I try not to claim that a film is the best of this year’s festival. But usually my emotions win out and I make such a claim in a non-direct kind of way, which may explain this opening paragraph. Because this year The Wackness is that film.

First Showing also loved the film:

Set in New York City, The Wackness is an eclectic yet hilarious story about a loser-turned-pot-dealer named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck), who has no friends, deals drugs to his psychiatrist, and has the hots for his daughter. The Wackness’ director Jonathan Levine is already defining a new generation of filmmakers along the likes of Jason Reitman and Jared Hess. With this, he’s created one of the most memorable films from Sundance so far.
