With the warmer weather upon us, Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman have been traveling around New York City by bicycle. While it’s a great way to get around and to get some exercise, it does have it’s challenges. You need to be aware if all sorts of elements - cars, pedestrians, other cyclists - in order to make sure your trip is quick, safe and fun.

Apparently, Mary-Kate wasn’t the most observant cyclist about a month ago. According to the National Enquirer (I know, I know), she nearly hit another cyclist while out with Nate on April 29th. Nate and Mary-Kate were biking against traffic instead of with traffic and she cut someone off and nearly hit them.

“Other bikers were riding with traffic, while Mary-Kate and Nate were riding against traffic so they should have been the ones to move out of the way,” an eyewitness reports. “But they didn’t, and Mary-Kate nearly collided with one of the bikers going the other way.”

Nate was upset with MK, as it’s not a safe cycling practice. According to the source, “he yelled, ‘You’re crazy, Mary-Kate! You almost killed us!”

While the National Enquirer posted this story, I can completely see it happening. Cyclists do what Mary-Kate did all the time. It’s easy to get caught up in the scenery or another obstacle and miss something. All I can say is, what a slow news day if this is what made it into the magazine this week.

Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman were spotted grabbing coffee on Thursday morning. Later that day, MK would be seen at LAX airport with her sister, Ashley. Mary-Kate and Nate seemed to be in a rush - I guess MK was trying to get to the airport! - and MK appeared a bit put off by the cameras.

Mary-Kate looked quirky and cute in her motorcycle boots, leather jacket and Indiana Jones-inspired hat! I recently bought this faux leather jacket because I’ve been liking MK’s leather look for a while! Admitting this makes me feel a little silly!

I wonder what Mary-Kate and Ashley are going to be up to in Los Angeles? Hopefully some press for the Row menswear line and Elizabeth & James’ Fall 2009 line!

Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman spent some time together yesterday afternoon in New York. They enjoyed a quiet breakfast together in Tribeca before walking around together for an hour or so.

MK looked cute in a n oversized sweater and gladiator sandals. She carried the same bag she had at the Matthew Williamson for H&M launch party the night before.

MK has been one busy lady lately! I love how unfazed her and Nate are by the cameras. They used to be much more private. I think that proves just how secure and comfortable they are in their relationship!

Mary-Kate Olsen attended the celebration honoring Burberry Creative Director Christopher Baily on March 16. Gossip Girl star Ed Westwck played host of the event, which was held in the second floor menswear department.

Boyfriend Nate Lowman played DJ for the event, which was attended by 200 other fashion insiders, including Barney’s creative director Simon Doonan, Derek Blasberg, stylist Keegan Singh and Paper magazine columnist, Mickey Boardman.

MK went for an understated look that was still very much her, pairing skinny jeans with a casual grey sweater, black boots and a classic tan trench. I like the look a lot. It’s reminiscent of her more disheveled days, but has a more grown-up feel to the look.

Interview magazine (of which Mary-Kate Olsen is rumored to be the March 2009 cover girl) recently interviewed MK’s boyfriend, New York-based artist, Nate Lowman. They chat about Nate’s evolution as an artist, his childhood, his current projects and more.

Nate is 30 years old and grew up in Idyllwild, California. His father ran a non-profit art school there, which acted as his introduction to the art world, albeit tangentially.

He sees himself as sort of a “remixer”, that is, taking already existing pieces and turning them into art.

“A lot of the images I use are already out there in the public or in the news,” he says. “I just steal them or photograph them or repaint them, so they’ve already been talked about, already been consumed. I’m just reopening them to get at their second, third, or fourth meanings.”

For Nate, his art is all about what the pieces express, what they say about our society and how they speak to the person experiencing the piece.

“It really comes down to language. I feel like the biggest failure of humans is miscommunication,” he explains. “We can’t communicate with each other-we can fight, we can kill, we can do those things well. Language is the most beautiful and destructive thing because it allows you to express yourself, but it totally confuses everything.”

They never once mention Nate’s relationship with Mary-Kate, which I find refreshing and appealing. They want to put the focus on Nate as a young artist in New York and not on Nate, the celebrity boyfriend. It sounds like Nate has a lot of talent and vision, it will be interesting to see what he does next.

People magazine spotted Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman getting affectionate at New York’s Indochine this week. Despite the restaurant being super-busy because it’s Restaurant Week in New York, the couple were happily making out, oblivious to anyone who noticed.

I haven’t been able to find any pictures of the couple, so hopefully some will pop up soon! I’m especially wondering when MK and/or Ashley will be attending another event. January was a long and col month without any fashion inspiration from these gals!

Mary-Kate Olsen and artist boyfriend Nate Lowman have seemed really solid lately, popping up in New York and Miami looking blissfully happy.

So happy in fact, that In Touch Weekly is reporting that Nate brought MK home to meet the parents this Christmas! The twosome was spotted in Idyllwild, California on boxing day, where Nate’s parents live. Nate’s father runs an art school in the city.

“They seem really happy together and Mary-Kate was so sweet,” their source claims. “They are a great family that loves her. They are in a really serious relationship and she’s in a good place now with him.”

I think it’s really refreshing to read a positive tabloid story about Mary-Kate–they were really hard on her, her men, her weight and her partying in 2008.

Additionally, I’m beginning to really like Nate and MK together. He seems to make her happy.

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were seen out on dates over the weekend.

Ashley was spotted with Justin Bartha on Saturday night, heading into Pace, an Italian restaurant, in Hollywood. While she didn’t hide her face from the paparazzi, she didn’t look to pleased to see them and just marched on by.

On Friday afternoon, People spotted Mary-Kate having lunch with her boyfriend, Nate Lowman, and about a dozen other friends at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge. She looked like she was having a good time and was wearing her giant gray wrap. People even spotted Nate being gentlemanly and opening the door for MK.

I’m glad both girls seem happy and that their boyfriends seem genuinely invested in the relationships. Both MK and Ashley deserve it!

Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman attended the Assouline Book Launch in Miami on December 5. MK was wearing the felt hat reminiscent of the Musketeers that she seems so fond of in Miami.

While Mary-Kate was in Miami, taking in Art Basel, Ashley went to Boston for the Institute of Contemporary Art fundraiser on December 10. The event honored young American designers and Ashley was there to represent the Row. Ashley looked stunning in a grey velvet gown and told the audience she was honored to be there. Other designers who were honored included Brian Reyes, Chris Benz, Elise Overland, Jason Wu, Lyn Devon, Magda Berliner, Sari Gueron, Tuleh and Mario Cornejo.

On December 4, Mary-Kate Olsen and her boyfriend Nate Lowman managed to squeeze a quiet dinner with friends in amongst all the Art Basel parties. The two looked happy and content, enjoying each other’s company.

Later that night, they headed to the Audi party where MK supposedly fought with Kirsten Dunst. But right here, she seems happy!
