Movies.ie Interviews Mary-Kate Olsen

August 24, 2008 by Erin Balser

In honor of the Irish premiere of The Wackness, starring Ben Kingsley, Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby and Mary-Kate Olsen, Movies.ie interviewed Mary-Kate about her experience filming the movie. They chat about working with Ben Kingsley, MK’s infamous kissing scene, being constantly followed by the paparazzi, and where she sees her career going.

I love this quote about her professional limits. When asked what MK would and would not do for her career:

“I’m never going on the cover of Maxim - at all!” she said. “I only go along with what I am comfortable with.”

There isn’t anything new in the interview, but it’s good to see that Mary-Kate is dedicated to the marketing of the film. She’s serious about her acting career and tirelessly working to promote herself and her movies will only do her good.

You can read the interview for yourself here.

The Wackness premieres in Ireland on August 29.

Videos: Mary-Kate Olsen’s Scenes from The Wackness

July 19, 2008 by Erin Balser

Mary-Kate Olsen is only in The Wackness for nine minutes. She’s featured in two scenes and in both scenes, her character, Union, is stoned out of her mind. I think MK did a great job in her role, but I think it’s weird that the media and the studio hyped her perfomance in the film so much and she’s in it so little.

The video below is her first scene in the film. It’s early in the movie and Stephanie, Luke’s love interest, just found out that Luke is a dealer. MK is one of his regular clients.

The video below is her second, and final, scene in the film. This scene is much longer and it’s the infamous bar scene wherein she makes out with Ben Kingsley’s character.

What do you think of Mary-Kate’s performance? What sort of role do you think she should take on next?

The Wackness and Mary-Kate Olsen

According to the Wall Street Journal, Mary-Kate Olsen auditioned for the lead female role, Stephanie. Stephanie is Luke’s love interest in the film. Ultimately, that role was given to Olivia Thirlby.

Olivia is a great actress. She’s also starred in Juno with Ellen Page and United 93. I’m excited to see what she’ll do with The Wackness.

As we all know, it ended well for MK. She was cast as drug user and hippie Union.

The Wackness will be in theatres on July 3.

Video: New The Wackness Trailer

April 29, 2008 by Erin Balser

Here is a new trailer for The Wackness starring Mary-Kate Olsen, Ben Kingsley and Josh Peck.

Mary-Kate is only in the trailer briefly, but I think it’s nice they include her, especially considering how small people say her part is.

Are you planning on seeing this movie?

Photos: Mary-Kate Olsen Keeps it Simple

April 29, 2008 by Erin Balser

Mary-Kate Olsen wore a simple but chic all-black number to the Chanel Dinner at Ago at the Greenwich Hotel during the Tribeca Film Festival on Monday night. What do you think? Is her outfit a winner?

The event also had a Q&A session for the stars of the various films in the festival. During the Q&A for The Wackness Ben Kingsley praised MK and called her a great role model for her generation.

Cinematical has a bunch of new stills from Mary-Kate Olsen’s latest film, The Wackness, which also stars Ben Kingsley and Josh Peck. MK herself is only in one image, it’s with Ben, but the pics themselves are still cool to see.

The movie is supposed to hit theaters early this summer!
