Mary-Kate Olsen “Great Fit” For Weeds

Mary-Kate Olsen’s solo television acting debut is on August 13th at 10pm on Showtime, but the buzz surrounding her performance in Weeds is already pretty loud.
Mary-Kate plays Tara, a devout Christian, and is a new love interest for Silas.
“Weeds isn’t your eight-o’-clock family fare. It’s an adult show with adult subject matter and we’re confident Mary-Kate is right for the role,” says Weeds creator and executive producer Jenji Kohan. “She came in and read with Hunter (Parrish) and was absolutely charming and real and seemed like a great fit. Audiences have seen only one side of Mary-Kate but here, we’ll see her in a whole new light.”

The promo pictures of the cast for the upcoming season are below the cut. Sadly, Mary-Kate didn’t get one taken, (or if she did, I can’t find it!) since she’s not really a regular cast member yet.

I’ve seen very little of either of the Olsen twins’ acting over the years and am mostly familiar with them from glimpses I’ve caught of “Full House” while channel surfing(when they were quite young). Honestly I’d say that at least in their younger years on the show that they demonstrated acting skills well below those of most of todays child actors at the same age. I caught a bit of their acting on that other show they did(around age 12) and they clearly were showing some real acting talent by then. Until my recent viewing of some episodes of “Weeds” I hadn’t seen any acting from either of the sisters in years, and I have to say that I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of Mary Kate’s performance in the series. I mean she’s really good. If Ashley has developed her acting chops to the same level as her sister I predict that they’ll both have a great future as adult actresses in adult roles for years to come.

She was absolutely horrible on that show. She always looked drugged out and skanky.
