Mary-Kate Olsen topped her basics with a stunning red coat from Lanvin as she grabbed coffee in New York City earlier this week. It’s a great on-the-go look that’s fashion forward and practical.

Here’s how to get her look for less.

Pair a black tee (TopShop, $20.00) with skinny jeans (Forever 21, $24.80) and ankle boots (ASOS, $135.98). Add a great red coat (Newport News, $99.00), sunglasses (Forever 21, $5.80), a tan bag (PacSun, $45.00) and some jewelry (Forever 21, $6.80) and you’re good to go!

Mary-Kate looked great in Lanvin boots and an Alexander McQueen jacket on the set of Good Morning America earlier this week. The ladies visited GMA to promote their juniors line, Olsenboye. It’s too bad MK or Ashley didn’t rock any pieces from the line. I know it’s a line for juniors, but MK and Ashley are small enough to fit into them!

Here’s how to get her look for less!

Pair some skinny jeans (Forever 21, $24.80) with a great belted jacket (TopShop, $340.00). If this one is still too pricey, Forever 21 has a great less expensive alternative. Add a tan belt (Urban Outfitters, $20.00), black bag (Aldo, $50.00), ankle boots (ASOS, $135.98), sunglasses (Forever 21, $5.80) and cool accessories (Forever 21, $3.80) for a tv-ready look.

Want Mary-Kate and Ashley at Your Fashion Show? You Better Pay.

It’s no surprise that celebrities are paid to make appearances at parties, concerts, events and fashion show. When they appear, cameras appear and buzz happens. A lot of good can happen for a designer if a celebrity is spotted at their show or wearing their garment. Why shouldn’t celebrities cash in on this buzz?

Hollywood Life found out exactly how much some celebs make to sit front row center during New York Fashion Week. And it’s a lot. Rihanna tops everyone by commanding $100,000. Mary-Kate and Ashley are a close second, demanding $80,000 each. This probably explains why we don’t see them at many fashion shows anymore. With the recession, loads of fashion houses cut back and the celebrity thing wasn’t as big a deal anymore. Marc Jacobs didn’t even invite any celebrities to his last showing.

Paris will do it for free, Lindsay can’t pay people to invite her and loads of other stars get some decent dough. Here’s their complete list.

Mary-Kate and Ashley’s Olsenboye Party

Mary-Kate and Ashley celebrated the official launch of Olsenboye with a party at Norwood in New York City on Wednesday night. Friends and fashion insiders including Teen Vogue’s Amy Astley, Kate Coultas, Jane Siskin, Liz Sweeny and more!

MK sported the red coat she’d wear out the next day. Ashley opted for a dramatic embroidered jacket and a dark red lip. This is the second time Ashley’s opted for dark lipwear for a festive location. Is it going to become a big trend?

Mary-Kate Olsen stepped out with a friend yesterday afternoon, braving the chilly New York weather to grab a cup of coffee. She made the best of the day by wearing a cheery red jacket and carrying a Balenciaga pony weekender bag–the very same bag Ashley toted to Good Morning America on Wednesday!

Now that MK and Ashley launched Olsenboye and announced Textile Elizabeth and James, what projects do they have store for us next? Any wild guesses?

Mary-Kate and Ashley on Good Morning America

Mary-Kate and Ashley stopped by Good Morning America yesterday morning to launch Olsenboye, their juniors collection for JCPenney. The line officially hit stores today and will be sold all over the country. Both MK and Ashley looked great as they talked about their inspiration for the line, how they got so business savvy so young and more.

The walk Robin Roberts through the collection. You’ll notice Ashley does 90% of the talking. Is she just better at the interviewing thing or is Olsenboye more her baby? The net Olsenboye collections will be inspired by Los Angeles, London and Home for the Holidays!

Did you know they trademarked Olsenboye at fourteen? That’s smart. These two cookies know what they’re doing.

I like the collection, but it seems really young. I know that’s the market they were going for, but I was hoping I could snag an Olsen original on the cheap! The blazer is adorable, though. Hopefully it comes in my size!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Arriving on Good Morning America

Mary-Kate and Ashley stopped by Good Morning America this morning to talk about Olsenboye. The juniors line launches across the United States today. They’ve having a contest where you could design for the line! Not only would the design be featured in a future Olsenboye collection, you’ll be flown to NYC to meet the gals. How exciting would that be?

Both MK and Ashley looked good. Ashley lost the white pants when she went on camera. I don’t blame her for going the comfy route–you have to get up super early to be on GMA! I especially like Mary-Kate’s jacket.

Mary-Kate & Ashley Launching Denim Line

Mary-Kate and Ashley are branching out. Elizabeth and James, their contemporary line, is now going to include a denim line. The cool twist? All the pairs of jeans designed for the line are going to be inspired by jeans in MK and Ashley’s own closets–dating as far back as high school!

The line will be called Textile Elizabeth and James and the items are named after rock stars. According to WWD, the inaugural collection features three pairs: a bell-bottomed stlye called the Hendrix; a low-slung style called the Stevie and a cropped pair named the Joni. If you have a subscription to WWD, you can check out the photos of each pair. They’re pretty cool and look very comfortable.

The jeans will run between $106 and $111 per pair and will hit stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Intermix in March.

MK and Ashley plan to unveil a complete line for Textile Elizabeth and James in the fall. Think comfy basics and classics like flannel tops and boyfriend shirts. The new Elizabeth and James menswear line will be folded into Textile at that time as well.

I’m excited to see what this line has in store. $106 isn’t bad for a pair of high-end jeans. If the Textile pricepoint is similar, I can see it being a success!

Design for Olsenboye!

Mary-Kate and Ashley have launched a design contest for their new juniors line, Olsenboye! Aspiring fashion designers between 13 and 21 are encouraged to submit an original clothing design. Olsen fans have the chance to choose the winner when the semifinalists’ designs will be shown to the world.

The lucky winner will see their design included in a future Olsenboye collection, be flown to New York to meet Mary-Kate and Ashley and received a $1,000 shopping spree at JCPenney.

Very Mary Kate Episode #5: Baby Daddy

Since the Olsen news has been pretty slow this week, I thought I’d share the fifth episode of the web comedy Very Mary-Kate. Now that Mary-Kate has decided she wants a baby, she thinks her bodyguard would make a perfect sperm donor. This leads to some confusion and some conflict.

I think this is the weakest episode yet, as the baby plot is silly. I am going to keep watching, though. Are you?
