The Wackness is a coming-of-age tale set in New York City in the early nineties. Josh Peck plays Luke Shapiro, a lonely teenager who, in the first summer after high school, takes on an interesting part-time job to make some cash. Along the way to self-discovery, he starts hanging out with his high school crush, Stephanie, played by Olivia Thirlby, as well as his shrink, played by Ben Kingsley.

Mary-Kate Olsen plays one of Luke’s loyal customers, a hippie chick named Union. Her role is small, but MK absolutely transforms. And you can’t forget about the infamous kissing scene with Ben Kingsley?!

The DVD includes extras such as deleted scenes, two mini-documentaries- “Keeping it Real” which looks at a day in the life of writer/director Jonathan Levine, and “Time in a Bottle” which looks at the behind the scenes happening on the set of The Wackness, the first episode of “The Luke Shapiro Show” and commentary from Jonathan Levine and star Josh Peck.

When I got home today, there was a notice from the post office telling me I had a package! When I got there, I discovered it was the copy of Influence I ordered months and months ago! I got the Ashley cover, but the invoice said Mary-Kate. They are selling copies of both MK and Ashley on the cover, but if you order it online, you don’t get to choose.

I haven’t read it yet, but the reviews have been stellar. I’m super-excited to read the interviews–MK and Ashley poured their hearts into this book and deserve all the success it will bring them.

Has anyone else gotten their copy yet? What do you think?

As you know, it’s the coming to the end of the year. I want to make MKAshley even BETTER in 2008. I’d love your suggestions as to what sort of things you’d want to see on the site!

I’m also thinking about introducing a “Flashback Friday” section, where I showcase stuff from when MK and Ash were younger. Are you into this? If so, what are you most interested in–stuff from when they were really little, stuff from only a few years ago, movie stuff, candids, or just a mix of everything!

Please leave your suggestions in the comments below–I promise I’ll read them all.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let y’all know that I am going on vacation for the next ten days! I recently completed my Masters degree (here’s to hoping the committee passes my thesis!) and this trip is the celebration of that, the celebration of my birthday and a chance to catch up with some old friends who now live far away!

I do plan on blogging during the entire trip, but am uncertain about my internet access — where I can find it, when I can use it, etc. Plus, I want to enjoy the experience. I worked very hard all year at school and everyone deserves a break!

So, if the news is a little less frequent and a little late, I apologize. Whatever I miss when I’m away, I’ll catch up with as soon as I get back! I’ll be back on the 27th of August, so expect more regular news after that!

Then come September, I promise that I’ll try to be the fastest and most comprehensive Olsen news source on the net.
